What to Expect During a Session

A session is performed by one of our licensed massage therapists or nurses. Before starting, they check how you are feeling and look at the treated areas. During the massage:

• The pressure is light; it should not be painful, although treated areas can feel tender
• Incisions, drains and any open areas are avoided
• Some fluid may come out of small incisions in the first days, which is expected after liposuction
• You put your compression garment back on right after the session

Drink water, keep walking as your surgeon advises and wear your garment as directed between sessions.

When Lymphatic Massage Is Not Safe

Lymphatic massage is not right for everyone or at every stage. It should wait, and you should contact the clinic right away, if you have signs of infection (fever, redness, warmth or pus), calf pain or swelling that could mean a blood clot, shortness of breath or chest pain, or an incision that is opening.
