BBL Revision and Buttock Reduction in Miami
BBL revision and buttock reduction at CG Cosmetic Surgery in Miami correct a Brazilian butt lift result you are not happy with: uneven sides, lumps, lost volume, or a buttock that is larger than you want. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Moises Salama examines the result and explains what can be improved. Your price is confirmed in a written quote after your consultation.
What Is a BBL Revision?
A BBL revision is a second surgery to improve the result of a previous Brazilian butt lift, whether the first surgery was done at CG Cosmetic or somewhere else. Some of the fat transferred in a BBL does not survive, the fat may settle unevenly, and the body keeps changing with weight and age, so a revision is not unusual. Depending on the problem, the revision may add fat, remove fat, or both.
Buttock reduction is the opposite of a BBL: it makes the buttocks smaller or reshapes them, usually with careful liposuction of the buttocks, hips and surrounding areas. It is often chosen after a BBL that turned out larger than desired or that no longer looks proportionate.

Common Reasons for a BBL Revision
- Asymmetry: one side looks larger, higher or a different shape
- Lumps or irregularities: uneven areas, dents, or firm lumps from fat that did not survive (oil cysts or fat necrosis)
- Lost volume: more fat was reabsorbed than expected, or weight loss reduced the result
- Too large: the buttocks are bigger than you want or out of proportion with your body
- Shape: hip dips, a flat upper buttock, or a waist-to-hip transition that is not smooth
Revisions are usually planned at least six months after the first BBL, when the swelling is gone and the fat that will survive has settled. Bring your operative report and any photos of your previous surgery. If you had injections of silicone or another substance that was not your own fat, tell your surgeon: that is a different problem and needs its own evaluation.
How a BBL Revision Is Done
The plan depends on what needs to change. When volume is missing or one side is smaller, fat is harvested with liposuction and transferred to the areas that need it, following the same safety standards as our BBL: fat only in the layer under the skin, never into or below the muscle, with ultrasound guidance. When there is too much volume or an irregular contour, liposuction removes or smooths fat in the buttocks, hips or thighs. Firm lumps from fat necrosis can sometimes be drained or removed. Many revisions combine these steps. The anesthesia plan for your procedure is explained at your consultation.
Buttock Reduction
Buttock reduction uses liposuction to reduce the volume of the buttocks and reshape the hips and the area where the buttock meets the thigh. The goal is a smaller, balanced shape, not a flat one, so fat is removed carefully and evenly. If the main problem is loose or sagging skin rather than fat, liposuction alone may not be enough; Dr. Salama explains what your options are.
Recovery After a BBL Revision or Buttock Reduction
Recovery depends on what was done, and Dr. Salama gives you written instructions. In general terms:
- If fat was added: recovery is similar to a BBL. You avoid sitting directly on your buttocks for about two to three weeks, as your surgeon directs, and sleep on your stomach or side.
- If fat was only removed: recovery is usually shorter, and many patients return to lighter routines within about a week when cleared.
- Compression: a compression garment is worn for several weeks to control swelling.
- Results: swelling goes down over weeks to months, and the final shape is usually judged at around six months.
Lymphatic drainage massage is often recommended after liposuction; see our post-op lymphatic drainage massage. Call the clinic right away if you notice fever, increasing pain, redness or swelling, shortness of breath, chest pain or swelling in one leg.
BBL Revision Risks
A revision is surgery, and it can be less predictable than a first BBL because of scar tissue and changes from the previous surgery. Risks include:
- Persistent or new asymmetry and contour irregularities
- Fat reabsorption, oil cysts or fat necrosis when fat is added
- Fluid collection (seroma), bleeding, infection or skin changes
- Blood clots in the legs or lungs
- Fat embolism when fat is transferred to the buttocks, a rare but serious complication; this is why fat is placed only above the muscle
- Reactions to anesthesia
Dr. Salama reviews the risks that apply to you before you decide. Results vary, and more than one procedure is sometimes needed.

BBL Revision Questions
What is a BBL revision?
A BBL revision is a second surgery to improve the result of a previous Brazilian butt lift, for example to correct asymmetry, lumps, lost volume or a result that is too large. It may add fat, remove fat, or both.
Who performs BBL revisions at CG Cosmetic?
BBL revisions and buttock reductions at CG Cosmetic in Miami are performed by board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Moises Salama.
How much does a BBL revision cost in Miami?
The price depends on what needs to be corrected, whether fat is added, removed or both, and your surgical plan. You receive a written quote after your consultation, and financing is available subject to credit approval.
How long should I wait after my BBL before a revision?
Revisions are usually planned at least six months after the first BBL, once the swelling is gone and the surviving fat has settled. Your surgeon confirms the timing after examining you.
Can my BBL be made smaller?
Yes, in many cases. Buttock reduction uses liposuction to reduce the volume and reshape the buttocks and hips, aiming for a smaller, balanced shape.
Can you revise a BBL done by another surgeon?
Yes. Bring your operative report and photos from your previous surgery. If you had injections of silicone or another substance that was not your own fat, tell your surgeon, because that needs a different evaluation.
Is a BBL revision riskier than a first BBL?
It can be less predictable because of scar tissue from the previous surgery. When fat is added, the same safety standards as a first BBL apply, including placing the fat only above the muscle with ultrasound guidance.
